How much band history do you know?Stanhope Elmore High School was built in 1965. The first Band was organized that Spring. For the past 40 years, the program has gained a great reputation as being one of the finest Band programs in Central Alabama.The Marching Band alone has performed on National television numerous times as well as throughout the Southern United States. Our Bands have performed in New Orleans, La., and Mobile, Al. at Mardi Gras celebrations for over 14 years and at two (2) College Bowl games (The Peach Bowl, 2000 and the Blue/Gray Classic, 2001). Along with Alabama and Louisiana, the Bands from Millbrook have performed and competed in nearly every state in the South. The “Pride Of Millbrook” as we are known today, has a strong reputation of being a “community first” program that is quick to support City Hall, and many organizations that need not only a musical performance, but young people to help with their various civic and community projects such as the construction of Millbrook’s “Kids Kingdom” playground and the annual American Cancer Society “Relay For Life”. Our “Parents In Tune” Booster Club and student fees support the entire Band program financially. Our Booster Club operates the football concession stands and sponsors various “fund raising” projects throughout the school year. Each student is required to pay a “Band Fee” and is encouraged to participate in fund raising activities. Our annual budget averages $50,000 -$85,000.00 dollars per year. Due to heavy travel demands and purchasing equipment, instruments and uniforms to keep up with growth, we rely upon on-going fund raisers and outside donations. We appreciate all the support from the students, parents and the community. You make it possible for this program to be so successful.
